Finnish synthetic aperture radar (SAR) constellation operator ICEYE has established a new satellite technology center in Warsaw, Poland, SpaceNews reported. The facility is designed to boost the company's R&D and production capacities in Poland, where ICEYE aims to invest more than 120 million zloty (about $31 million) between 2026 and 2028.
According to space24.pl, the new Warsaw site includes an expanded Satellite Operations Center that controls ICEYE's entire constellation of roughly 80 active SAR satellites, along with research and development workspace. The company plans to add a clean room for satellite assembly, integration and testing at the site. Warsaw teams work on radar signal processing (FPGA), onboard software and electronics, communications and radio systems, propulsion, and power-system component manufacturing.
ICEYE employs more than 1,000 people globally, with over 150 based in Poland, and has recently opened additional offices in Berlin, Munich, Lisbon, New Delhi, Amsterdam and Seoul, according to mamstartup.pl.
Space24.pl reported that ICEYE delivered its MikroSAR system, comprising four radar reconnaissance satellites and ground infrastructure, to the Polish Armed Forces in May 2026, and has since signed a letter of intent with Polish Defense Group (PGZ) to develop a military satellite communications system. Poland's Finance Minister, Andrzej Domański, said at the opening: "The space sector is growing yearly, creating investment chains across industries. Poland must develop these competencies domestically."
